This webinar was held in conjunction with Pam Harris’ upcoming book release of Developing Mathematical Reasoning. This webinar was interactive and lots of discussion of how people worked to solve math questions. One of the reasons I wanted to attend this one (and subsequently added the new book to my resource library) was that algorithms was how I learned math. Muscle memory probably factors into how I automatically see a math problem and the algorithm I think might help solve it. Through an interactive whiteboard session, we learned different ways to solve questions without using an algorithm. My mental math skills are growing.
