EDFN-Assessment-Assignment
For our 4th year Indigenous Culture and Learning class, one of the assignments was to look at learning through an Indigenous lens. I created a framework for an Indigenous way of knowing type of assessment. I wanted it to reflect a holistic approach and collaboration with Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members when possible. My hope is that in approaching it this way, students have a voice in shaping how they learn, how they share their knowledge, and learning is aligned with a more experiential and relational way. While it may not be possible to use this type of assessment all the time, I hope to include this style as much as I can in my own teaching practice.
