The Making Math Moments Virtual conference was the first professional development event I attended. It appealed to me for two reasons, one was that it was a weekend of virtual sessions, and second it was math. Negative experiences and memories from math during my school years in the past, had left me feeling like I had some math trauma. I knew I had to tackle this head on if I was going to feel confident teaching math to my students. I also felt that it was important that I shifted my mindset to model a growth mindset for my future students. Despite the event being virtual, there was multiple ways to engage and take part in hands-on activities.  Math has become hands-on, interactive, and collaborate now and that shift has made a positive impact on how I view math and feeling confident to engage in it.
